Bring Cleopatra Into Your Decor

She was a great Egyptian queen who is still well known today; Cleopatra. She was also well known for the many different ways she used rugs. Everyone has heard the story of Cleopatra who wrapped herself in a rug to deliver herself to Julius Caesar. He wanted to take over her country but she formed an alliance with Julius and later on the alliance continued with Marc Anthony. Because of the use of one rug Cleopatra changed history.

Unlike Cleopatra, most of us don’t use our rugs to make new friends, at least not in the ways she approached it. We use our rugs to decorate our homes and to make our home warmer. Furthermore, we can simply go to a store or shop online when we want a new rug rather than poor Cleo who had to order hers about a year in advance.

Modern day area rugs come in all shapes, colors, materials and sizes. When you decide to use a rug in an area the first step is to determine how large a rug you will need. You also need to realistically assess how much foot traffic the rug will subjected to so that you can make a good choice of fabric for your rug. Decide what the real purpose of the rug is; will it be a decorative focal point, only for utility purposes or a combination of both? What style of rugs would complement the room where they will be used? What about the light in the area, is it a light area or a dark one? Once you have answered these questions, you are ready to shop.

Today rug companies can produce area rugs in mass production that is not very expensive. You can find a rug that you can afford if you are patient. So don’t just settle for a rug, get the rug that you want.

If your rug will be the center of attention then you want to choose this carefully. You will want to pick out a small rug. If you want your room to blend in together you can use several small rugs. You can use area rugs to divide a room into partitions. You can use small rugs that are different colors to help you divide your room.

You can’t just throw the rugs down and call it a look. You want to make sure that you place the rugs properly in your room so you get the look you want.

By pre-planning the use of space you are sure to select rugs that not only do their job but look beautiful doing it.

Television Stands Don’t Have to Be a Pain

If you own a TV set in your front room or family room, you are most likely very aware of the fact that TV stands are not the most cute things in the field of home decor. There is something about a TV stand that just seems to get in the way of your vision, and those that are pleasing to it are typically not as pleasing to the wallet.

Of course, rarely is there a television without one of the many different kinds of television stands to get in the way of everything. Luckily, there are ways to go about your home decor so that the furniture that holds your television set is hardly noticeable at all. Here are a few design ideas to get you started on calling the attention away from any of your mediocre television stands.

Choose Flowers for Your House

Well, you don’t have to go floral but getting some type of greenery in your home-especially in brighter areas like a living room, can take away from eyesores like that darn TV stand. As a matter of fact, small trees work very well for this purpose as do flowers, potted plants, and other such items.

If you have flowers in a vase, those are only designed to last for a time, but flowers in a pot that you can tend to last much longer and grow much better and are an excellent way to start a design around even the very ugly TV stand.

Get a Television Ar moire for a Bedroom

One of the places in which foul television stands are the hardest to hide is in the bedroom. If you have this problem but you are not really comfortable with putting your television on an end table or on top of the dresser, consider a television Ar moire.

A television Ar moire is a great way to hide the television when you aren’t watching it, and if you pick the right ones you can end up with an extremely pleasant piece of furniture to that a look at when the TV set is really hidden away as well.
