In Sweeney Todd is it Johnny Depp that sings Sweeneys parts or is it another actor?

yes its him, tim said that he wanted to use the real voice of the actor and Johnny didnt take lessons because he wanted to learn more about the character before he learned any of the songs. I think he did a good job for not being a singer, but he says he will never do another musical again. You can tell its him by his sexy sexy voice ( swoon) and there are videos of him in the recording studio. Sweeney todd is a barber and a killer, i think it would be weird if he sounded like a professional singer. Youll notice even in any of the productions of sweeney todd that the people in it arnt the best singers, but because they focus on the character.
It certainly is, there are many interviews around the net with Johnny and Tim Burton (director) talking about how they weren’t sure if Johnny could hit the high notes. Johnny has said that he sung the songs 24/7 to learn them properly and used his wife (Vanessa Paradis) as his critic as she is a professional singer.
Johnny Depp is pretending to be Sweeney Todd and it’s known the Sweeney Todd couldn’t sing ‘cos he wasn’t a real person so Johnny is being true to his character if he get’s someone else to pretend he is Johnny Depp pretending to be Sweeney Todd. In other words movies are illusion.
