I’m looking for obscure type films similar to Dead Man with Johnny Depp.
The actors/actresses don’t matter, I’m just looking for something not so well known with a strange plot.

Anyone can recommend Donnie Darko or Eraserhead but really those are the easy choices let us forge a path even more off the beaten path.
Mystery Train. It is an earlier film directed by Jim Jarmusch who also directed Dead Man. Also try Night On Earth.
Ravenous.
Slackers. The one directed by Richard Linklater
Harold and Maude (ok that might be a little too obvious)
David Cronenberg’s movies are generally pretty out there and far superior to David Lynch’s. Videodrome is the standard Cronenberg choice but try Dead Ringers or Crash
Bliss. The one made in Australia.
Happiness directed by Todd Solondz.
Trust directed by Hal Hartley. Also The Unbelievable Truth and Simple Men.
Baxter. Weird French film about a dog.
Man Bites Dog. The best fake documentary film of all time.
Love Me if You Dare. Another French film but this one about love not a dog.
