Michael Bay (Transformers, Pearl Harbor) produced this remake of Wes Craven’s 1985 horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, which means updated shocks, computer-driven special effects, and a brand-new Freddy Krueger, this time played by Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley. Unfortunately, it also means a mechanical, largely scare-free carbon of the original film–the same fate suffered by Bay’s remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. Director Samuel Bayer, best known for helming videos for Nirvana and Green Day, does well by the film’s visuals, which hew toward stylized doominess, but the film itself limps from set piece to set piece, with the ones borrowed directly from Craven’s original scoring the most impact. What’s left are a group of dull teens on the run from Haley’s Freddy, who proves unsettling, if not the dynamo that Robert Englund was in the previous franchise entries. Michael Bay’s production company will oversee the re-imagining.
At this point it’s uncertain if Robert Englund, who portrayed Freddy Krueger in nine films and the TV show, will be back to portray the legendary serial killer.http://film.guardian.co.uk/news/story/0,…

Are you going to go see it? I am. I think this Freddy Krueger is going to be more scarier than the original Freddy. Not that i’m discrediting Robert Englund. He terrified me as a child. Just that this Freddy seems more darker.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxPmOP1_H…

My name is Ryan Krueger, and I decided to try and make a screenplay to see if it was any fun for me. I came up with this idea where I could battle against Freddy, but I don’t know exactly how. Can anyone help me come up with some ideas on plot, storyline, that kind of thing?

I hoping it doesn’t suck, there’s been a lot of horror films I’ve had high expectations for & they were crappy. I’ll settle for half decent at this point. I’ve always liked Freddy Krueger movies though.

Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. I feel he is perfect as Freddy if he brings the same insane intensity to the character as he did in Watchmen. Your thoughts?
